Minutes August 22, 2024

The Varick Planning Board held a regular meeting at the Varick Town Hall August 22, 2024 at 7:00 pm.

Present: Linda Mastellar– Chair, Thomas Bjorkman, Seth Brandow, Ann Kaminski, Cindy Lont, Jeff Vest

Absent: Tim Dorn – CEO

Guest(s):

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm.

Public Comment: None

Quorum: Verifiedto proceed with business on agenda.

Minutes Review:

June & July: Motion to accept the July minutes as presented and table the June minutes for review.

1st – T. Bjorkman, 2nd – C. Lont, Opposed – 0, Approved.

Major Subdivision: Application form created by LaBella. No changes recommended although a typo was found. Request a conversation with Barbara to get any insight from her in relation to the application. No further action.

Lake Water District: Code states only Docks and Hoists allowed with a limit on the size of the roof over the hoist only. The board developed changes to propose in the next Zoning Code revision for the lake water district (Section 306):

Clarify 306.2 to read: Uses. None of the uses in the Use table (308) are permitted in this District.

And clarify 306.3 that “Each roof may only cover one hoist, and not the dock.”

Further conversation with Code Officer is needed.

Minor subdivision application form: No Action.

STR Violation Process: Make sure all steps, as shown in the Code, are followed with dated written notices.

Town Board Meeting: Committee will be created to start the new Comprehensive Plan discussion. No Action.

ZBA meeting: No Action.

FAQs on Website: The current list can be added. Adding any additional FAQs can happen as they come up.

Website: Issue is resolved with no setbacks. No Action.

Facebook: A. Kaminski reports good activity with some noted sharing of posts that is bringing up the viewing numbers. No Action.

Other Business: None

Next meeting is scheduled for September 26, 2024.

Note: Include discussion of changes to the Code on next agenda with the plan to submit the information to the Town for approval by the end of the calendar year. Also, to include discussion of ‘Tiny Houses’ and their requirements as popularity is growing.

Motion by S. Brandow to adjourn at 8:48pm, 2nd – C. Lont, Motion Carries.
