The process
- Romulus and Varick had a joint committee to study and coordinate districts and uses on depot. THe committee was assited by planner Barbara Johnston of SI Brown Associates. The committee recommendation presented at a public informaiton meeting at Romulus Central School.
- The Varick Planning board worked on specifics for the Town of Varick based on this recommendation. The Planning Board met with many stakeholders during this process. The results were presented at a public information meeting at the Town Hall in January.
- The Varick Planning Board, assisted by Ms. Johnston, also developed a process of Site Plan Review for commercial development that provides greater efficiency and responsiveness for potential developers and businesspeople.
- The Varick Planning Board, asssisted by Ms. Johnston, also devloped the option of cluster development for subdividing properties over 10 acres. This option provides greater flexibility for residential development that preserves open space and is more creative in making an attractive environment than the traditional rectangular lots.
- Various other small updates, corrections, and clarifications were added.
- The recommended amendments were presented to the Town Board on June 2 and sent to the County Planning Board for Review.
- The Town Board will hold a public hearing on July 7 at 7 pm at the town hall.
- The Town Board is expected to vote on adoption at the August 4 regular meeting.
